Frieze Art Fair NY 2016 edition

This year marked the 25th anniversary of Frieze art fair. It was held as usual on Randall Island in New York from May 5- May 8. The Olsson Art Collections was there for the VIP opening night along with Artlovers, buyers, collectors and other ”vip’s”.

Frieze Art Fair, like all art fairs, has its downsides. It is of course widely commercial, with automobile manufacturers, booze providers, and tech companies all pitching in to pay for the event. But of all the big corporate art events, Frieze Art Fair also feels highly celebratory of radicalism in art. Walking through its many booths reminds the viewer that visual art is easily the last creative medium in the world when confrontational artists cannot only become quite successful, but can become the most sought-after and profitable creatives in the field.

Here are a few of OAC’s highlights from the fair, enjoy!
